Temperament, in simple terms, is the inborn (not genetic, i.e. brown hair, blue eyes, etc.) part of mankind that
determines how we react to people, places and things. In short, it is how people interact with their environments and
the world around them. Temperament pinpoints our perception of ourselves and the people who love us. It is also the
determining factor in how well we handle the stresses and pressures of life. Not all of today's problems are caused by
sin, but rather a result of a complicated fast paced world, a world that threatens our emotional stability.
David wrote about God's perfect knowledge of man (Temperament) in Psalm 139:13-16. Temperament is a God given KEY into
understanding our unique self and why we perceive and react the way we do to the world around us.
Temperament can best be defined as spiritual genetics or God's imprint upon each one of us. Three are involved in the
conception of a child, the mother, the father and the Creator.
Temperament is not the same as personality, but is placed inside each of us by God, therefore it does not change
throughout our lives. Temperament is discovered through an assessment called the Arno Profile System (A.P.S) which will
UNLOCK and bring understanding regarding our inborn traits in our soul which is the mind/will/and emotions. The A.P.S
Report provides a detailed analysis of each area of our soul. There are three inborn Temperament areas called the
"Inclusion (mind) Area", the "Control (will) Area", and "Affection (emotions) Area". Your “Inclusion Area" is your
social orientation and intellectual energy, your “Control Area” is your willingness to make decisions and to accept
responsibility for yourself and others and your “Affection Area” is the need you have to express and receive love and
approval, as well as your need for deep, personal relationships.
As you understand your temperament strengths and weaknesses, it will help you immensely in every area of your life:
• How you interact with people
• How to make better decisions
• What types of employment are you best suited for
• How to communicate more effectively
• Learn how to deal with your anger
• and so much more!
